County Government Structure; Roles & Responsibilities

Counties in Washington operate under powers granted to them by state statute. Discussion includes understanding the three branches of authority in county government, the powers and duties of Commissioners, Council members, Executives, other Elected Officials and overall management of county government. A broad number of major county service functions and support services including economic development, planning and zoning, property tax administration, public works, public safety, criminal justice, public health and social services will be addressed.
