The workshop registration fee is $240 per person, which includes refreshments and workshop materials, lunch will not be provided.

The Washington Counties Risk Pool (WCRP) will reimburse the first 15 Risk Pool member county participants who sign up for this class.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Gain new insight into managing and supervising skills that you can apply immediately upon returning to the workplace. Through hands-on, real world exercises you will learn how to cope with the challenges facing managers and supervisors today. Learn about key leadership styles and how to lead during times of change. Improve your delegation skills, set expectations and hold employees accountable, and how to assess performance. Topics include: leadership; managing change; delegation skills; resolving conflicts; managing employee performance; managing a diverse workforce; public sector ethics; and delivering performance appraisals.

INSTRUCTOR

Connie K. PoulsenConnie Poulsen is the Director of Leadership and Management Education for Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington.  In this position, she is responsible for the development and delivery of Management workshops to business and public sector clients on the Olympic Peninsula.  Workshops developed and delivered by Connie include:  Leadership, Motivation, Delegation, Managing Through Change, Conflict Resolution, Managing Time and Priorities, Problem Solving, Effective Meetings, Coaching, Managing Across the Generations, Organizational Ethics, Customer Service, Self-Development, Pygmalion Effect in Management, Strategic Planning, Creating a Respectful Workplace, Effective Performance Appraisals, Dealing with Problem Employees, Cultural Diversity, Sexual Harassment, Decision Making,  and Supervisory Skills.

In addition to her work with the college, Connie contracts with organizations as a professional speaker, trainer and consultant.

Connie came to Peninsula College from a 30 year career at Xerox Corporation.  During her years at Xerox, Connie was responsible for the management of sales and profit as District Manager of Los Angeles.  She also held the positions of Western Region Training Manager, responsible for sales and management training in the western U.S. and Manager of Customer Education for the United States, where her organization created and delivered training for customers.   Her last position with Xerox was Manager, Education Industry Marketing in which she had worldwide responsibility for marketing programs in the university sector. 

Connie holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Business Administration from California State University, Long Beach.  She also holds Marketing Management Certificates from Stanford University and Columbia University Graduate Schools of Business.  In 2001 she completed the University of British Columbia’s Executive Education seminar. Connie holds a current Washington State Community College teaching certificate.

Connie lives in Sequim, Washington with her husband, Soeren and their two golden retrievers.
